PANGU PATI'S

Growth Pillars

In pursuit of a vision for a better Papua New Guinea by 2050, the government has identified five key growth pillars: Better Economy, Better Education, Better Health, Better Law & order, and Better Infrastructure. Together, these pillars form the framework for a brighter future, promising tangible improvements to the lives of all Papua New Guineans. These pillars serve as guiding principles, with specific Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) set to measure progress (see MTDP 4) towards achieving this transformative vision.

  1. Better Economy: A flourishing economy fosters prosperity by generating employment opportunities, attracting investments, and driving sustainable growth. As incomes rise and livelihoods improve, communities experience enhanced standards of living, increased access to goods and services, and greater economic resilience.

  2. Better Education: Quality education empowers individuals with knowledge, skills, and opportunities for personal and professional growth. By investing in education, Papua New Guinea cultivates a skilled workforce, nurtures future leaders, and equips citizens to actively contribute to the nation's development and innovation.

  3. Better Health: Improved healthcare services ensure that all Papua New Guineans have access to essential medical care, leading to healthier lives and reduced mortality rates. By prioritizing health, the nation can address prevalent diseases, enhance maternal and child health, and promote overall well-being, resulting in a more productive and resilient population.

  4. Better Law & Order: A robust legal framework and effective law enforcement agencies uphold justice, safeguard human rights, and maintain social order. By promoting safety and security, Papua New Guinea creates an environment conducive to economic growth, social cohesion, and the protection of citizens' rights and freedoms.

  5. Better Infrastructure: Modern infrastructure networks enhance connectivity, facilitate commerce, and improve access to essential services such as transportation, energy, water, and telecommunications. By investing in infrastructure development, Papua New Guinea enhances mobility, stimulates economic activity, and enhances the overall quality of life for its citizens.

By monitoring progress annually, the Papua New Guinean government aims to track advancements in each growth pillar and steer the country towards realizing its 2050 vision of a prosperous, inclusive, and sustainable Papua New Guinea.
